Blog Post #10

This is the stigma of the plant. It is sticky and pollen grains here.  Inside the stigma at the inner
most part of the plant where the carpel lies where the female gametophytes are made.

This picture displays the ovary of the brassica olleracea.  The ovarary contains  one or more ovules
where female gametophytes are made.

This is a picture of the brassica oleraccea flower. It's petals are yellow and flimsy and inside
the flower it contains reproductive organs.
This is the anthers. This is the pollen producing part of the flower where meiosis takes place
where it produces haploid male gametophytes.

Fertilization occurs everyday in plants. The basic parts that make this process happen
are the anthers and the ovary. First the sperm cell fuses with the egg nucleus to produce
a diploid zygote. The zygote will grow into the new plant embryo. Next the other sperm
cells fuse with the two endosperm nuclei in the embryo sac to form a triploid endosperm
which nourishes the seedling as it grows.
