Our group is experimenting with brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts come from the Cole crop family. Offspring get there genes from there parents because they get some of there DNA. Plants get their traits through a process called meiosis. The plants won't look exactly like there parent though because they inherit genes from both there parents so its half and half. Also a lot of plants look different because they have to adapt to there environment.

Mckenna's seed story

Mckenna has learned how meiosis and mitosis works and how plants interact with the environment. What surprised Mckenna was how the plants grew in such a tight space and how they grew so well even in pouring rain. Pushing the wheelbarrows with Aalish made Mckenna laugh. What made Mckenna think a little deeper was how all of our food is grown in huge industries when we can just grow food outside in a garden. Mckenna understood the basics of everything and doesn't have any questions.

1.  A new nuclear membrane forms around the separated daughter chromosomes. That means the cells are doubling and the plants biomass is getting bigger. In respiration, plants will burn the energy and release carbon dioxide into the air, then it will produce water and co2. In photosynthesis our plant gets sunlight to make food for the plant.

2. A signal is sent to the nucleus with a DNA code, that's how an enzyme is created. Then that code is sent off to the nucleus and codes for the genetic sequence of the enzyme so it can be produced.

Hattie's Seed Story

Hattie has learned that plants need sunlight and water and a lot of space and water to live. Nothing    made her laugh during this project. It amazed her fast the plant grew in s little time. The process of meiosis and how sex cells are formed amazed her. She still has questions about mitosis and how meiosis works. She doesn't understand how everything works together so perfectly.

Throughout the weeks our plant has been growing taller and taller and is now taking up a lot of space. Our plant is getting sunlight, water, and is being taken care of properly. This is why the plant is growing and getting bigger and that's how we know our plant is living. All humans need those things to live and so do plants. Soon our plant will have brussel sprouts on it and we will be able to eat from it.

We are experimenting with brussels sprouts. They come from a cole crop family (Brassica Oleracea). Offspring get there traits because of inheritance which shows potential genotypes. There are many genotypes or traits that a plant can get because of dominate traits. They get their traits through a process called meosis. Chromosomes have their parents traits genetically stored in them that the offspring later could inherit. The offspring will not look exactly like it because they inherit traits from their mom and dad but not all from both. Our plants all look different because overtime the seeds adapted to different environments and cross breeded with different plants through pollination.

1. In plant mitosis the plant divides into two identical cells which is called daughter cells. When this happens our plant gets bigger and adds more biomass since the cells are multiplying. When photosynthesis happens our plant receives energy from the sunlight to make food for the plants. During that process they are releasing energy into the air. In respiration, plants burn energy to release carbon dioxide into the air, it then produces water and carbon dioxide.

2. An enzyme is created when a signal is sent to the nucleus of the cell with specific DNA Code. That code that is sent to the nucleus, codes for the genetic sequence of the enzyme to be produced.
